Swim 50 minutes. I’m still having difficulty breathing. Any tips?

Another day off which means I went bike shopping again, to Sports Basement. I think I’m getting closer to buying a bike, just not a 100% sure about the correct size. I am going to do some research.

25 minute free training session with a swim instructor. She pointed out subtle things that made a big difference in my swimming and showed me a couple of really good drills to help me improve my breathing. Now, practice! practice! practice!

Session in the gym with a trainer - he showed me some really good exercises to complement my workouts and strengthen my core at the same time. Dual benefit! :-)

Swim 50 minutes. I feel like I’m improving just a tad bit. I see hope!

Spent about 4 hours looking at bikes. I went to Pacific Cyclery, Freewheel and Valencia Cyclery and tried bikes Giant TCR C2, Giant Defy 1, Bianchi C2C 928 and Specialized Allez. I realize different bikes, similarly specced, ride differently depending on how the frame is set up.

Time trials at track

Ran 2 miles in just under 16 minutes. This is the benchmark to compare against towards the end of the training.

Swim 900 yards, 45 minutes. Breathing water through my nose. Swimming makes me dizzy. I am following these drills.

When I first started training for a marathon two years ago, I could barely get my feet to align properly to each other; and the feet hurt after a mile of running. Took me about a month to get into a basic running rhythm. I’m hoping it will be the same with swimming.
